5.b. Write an opinion essay on the importance of mental and physical strength for becoming an astronaut (140-180 words).

Solución: Becoming an astronaut is widely regarded as one of the most demanding careers in the world. In my opinion, achieving this goal requires an exceptional combination of both physical endurance and mental fortitude, as neither alone is sufficient to endure the rigours of space exploration. On the one hand, physical strength is essential to withstand the extreme conditions of space travel. Astronauts face immense G-forces during launch and the negative effects of microgravity, such as muscle atrophy and bone density loss. Rigorous daily training and supreme cardiovascular fitness are vital to performing spacewalks and operating heavy equipment effectively. On the other hand, psychological resilience is equally critical. Astronauts spend months in confined spaces, thousands of kilometres away from their families, facing constant life-threatening risks. They must remain calm under intense pressure, solve complex problems rationally, and collaborate seamlessly with their crewmates. In conclusion, space travel pushes human boundaries to the limit. Without peak physical conditioning and psychological balance, no individual could survive the extraordinary challenges of leaving our planet.
