b. Express your opinion on the following statement: Social media platforms should have the following health warning on their welcome screen “excessive use of this platform can cause severe mental health problems”.

Solución: In recent years, the relationship between social networks and psychological wellbeing has become a pressing issue. Some experts propose that platforms should display a warning banner about mental health risks on their welcome screens, much like cigarette packaging does. In my opinion, implementing this measure would be a positive and necessary step. First and foremost, countless studies link excessive screen time with anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem, especially among teenagers. An explicit warning would increase awareness among vulnerable users who often lose track of time. While people may initially ignore the message, constant exposure to it would encourage users to reflect on their daily digital consumption. On the other hand, a simple pop-up warning cannot solve the problem entirely. Tech corporations also need to redesign algorithms that deliberately promote addiction. However, a visible disclaimer would at least acknowledge the responsibility of these companies toward public health. In conclusion, having a mandatory warning on welcome screens would alert users to the hidden dangers of digital overuse. It is a vital step toward fostering healthier habits and protecting young people's mental wellbeing.
