Why do you think there are still more men than women in science? Justify your answer.

Solución: Despite significant progress in recent decades, the underrepresentation of women in STEM fields remains a global challenge. There are several interrelated factors that explain why more men than women pursue careers in science. First and foremost, historical stereotypes continue to exert a strong influence. From an early age, social expectations and educational biases often steer girls away from subjects like physics or engineering, associating technical brilliance primarily with men. Furthermore, the scarcity of visible female role models in textbooks and media makes it difficult for young girls to envision themselves as scientists. Additionally, workplace culture in many scientific institutions still poses barriers to women's career advancement. Unequal opportunities for promotion and difficulties in balancing demanding research schedules with family life frequently lead female researchers to abandon academia prematurely. In conclusion, closing this gender gap requires active initiatives: promoting female role models, ensuring equal recruitment practices, and fostering supportive research environments for everyone.
