In my opinion, strictly limiting internet access after getting poor marks is not an effective punishment and may even be counterproductive. First of all, the internet is not merely a source of entertainment; it is also a fundamental educational tool. High school students require web access to complete assignments, research topics, and communicate with teachers and classmates. Reducing access to just thirty minutes a day makes academic work significantly harder. Furthermore, punitive restrictions do not address the real root causes of poor academic performance, such as lack of motivation, study skills, or personal difficulties. Instead of helping students understand their mistakes, severe punishments only generate resentment and frustration. In conclusion, rather than imposing strict bans, parents should encourage better time management and guide their children towards responsible online study habits.
