Ejercicio Writing - Option 2 · Inglés PAU Castilla-La Mancha Extraordinaria 2022

OPTION 2: The advantages and disadvantages of living in a flat in the centre instead of in a house in the suburbs.

Solución: Sample answer: Choosing where to reside often involves weighing lifestyle priorities against practical constraints. Both living in an apartment located downtown and residing in a suburban detached home have clear advantages and disadvantages. On the one hand, residing in a central flat offers unbeatable convenience. Shops, cultural venues, restaurants, and public transportation networks are within walking distance, eliminating the need for long daily commutes. However, apartments in urban centers are generally more compact, more expensive per square meter, and subject to constant noise and pollution. On the other hand, suburban houses provide peaceful surroundings, larger living spaces, and private gardens, which is ideal for families with children or pets. Nevertheless, this tranquility comes at the cost of dependency on private vehicles and long travel times to work or school. To sum up, while city flats provide vibrant convenience, suburban houses ensure peace and spaciousness. The optimal choice ultimately depends on an individual's lifestyle.
