1. What is the link between recent heat waves and global warming?

Solución: The energy produced in Europe and America causes an excessive emission of carbon dioxide into the environment. This excess carbon dioxide is responsible for the rise in temperatures over the last 50 years.

2. According to NASA data, what has been particularly relevant from 1980 to the present day?

Solución: Data provided by NASA indicate that the 15 years with the highest temperatures since global temperature records exist have been concentrated from 1980 to the present day; in particular, the three hottest years are recorded in the last five years of the statistics.

3. What two conditions must be met for people's lives to be in serious danger during a heat wave?

Solución: On the one hand, the body temperature rises above 40 degrees and cannot be lowered; and on the other hand, the heat wave lasts more than two days in a row.

4. Why are urban centres hostile places to be when a heat wave occurs?

Solución: There are many reasons: there is less cooling vegetation; temperatures can be as much as 6 degrees higher than in the countryside; the temperature does not fall at night; and air pollution increases the harmful effects of high temperatures.
