Discuss the need to make GCED a higher priority in schools.

Lösung: Es wird erwartet, dass die Prüflinge in einem kohärenten und strukturierten Text die Notwendigkeit erörtern, Global Citizenship Education in Schulen einen höheren Stellenwert einzuräumen. Sie gelangen dabei zu einer begründeten Stellungnahme. Mögliche Aspekte: Necessity of making GCED a higher priority: - Increasing difficulty of understanding the world as ongoing globalisation makes the world more complex. - Need to encourage active involvement/participation in social, political, environmental and economic processes as citizenship involves rights and responsibilities. - Need to make people aware of social issues as globalisation produces winners and losers. - Need to create an understanding that solutions to today's challenges (e.g. global warming, pollution, pandemics, wars) have to be found on a broader scale than national interests and must be tackled together as geographic borders have become increasingly irrelevant. - Need to develop common human values and beliefs, cross-cultural understanding, analytical and evaluative skills in order to form mindset of world-mindedness. No necessity of making GCED a higher priority: - Concept of global citizenship is rather unspecified and impractical; question if there is a common ground. - Complex topic; question of where to put focus in teaching about social, political, environmental and economic rights and responsibilities. - Other skills and subjects more important to understand the world or to gain access to job market. - Large parts of the topic already taught in several subjects. - Urgent challenges often need more attention, e.g. local economic development, healthcare, international conflicts.
