B.5.- Write about 150 to 200 words on the following topic: What is your opinion about the impact of social media on society? Justify your answer.

Solución: Model essay response (150–200 words): Social media platforms have completely transformed how human beings communicate, share information, and form communities. While their influence is often criticized, I believe their overall impact on society is multifaceted, bringing significant advantages alongside real challenges. On the one hand, social networks facilitate immediate connection across borders, allowing individuals to maintain relationships regardless of distance. Furthermore, they democratize news access and provide vital platforms for educational content, cultural exchange, and social awareness campaigns. Small businesses and creative artists can also reach global audiences that were previously inaccessible. On the other hand, the negative consequences cannot be ignored. Excessive screen time and algorithmic addiction frequently lead to mental health issues such as anxiety, cyberbullying, and unrealistic social comparisons, especially among teenagers. Moreover, the rapid proliferation of fake news and echo chambers poses a threat to informed public debate. In conclusion, social media is an extraordinarily powerful tool whose impact depends entirely on how it is used. Society must foster digital literacy and self-regulation to maximize its undeniable benefits while mitigating its psychological and social hazards.
