Ejercicio B.5 · Inglés PAU Madrid Ordinaria (2ª lengua) 2021

B.5.- Write about 150 to 200 words on the following topic: Do you think studying abroad can make you grow as a person? Justify your answer.

Solución: Studying abroad is widely regarded as one of the most transformative experiences in a young person’s life, and I firmly believe that it plays a fundamental role in personal growth. First and foremost, living in a foreign country forces you out of your comfort zone. When you are far from home, you have to manage everyday responsibilities by yourself, ranging from cooking and budgeting to solving administrative paperwork in a different language. This independence fosters resilience and self-reliance, helping you realize what you are truly capable of achieving. Furthermore, immersion in another culture broadens your perspective. Meeting people from diverse backgrounds teaches empathy, tolerance, and open-mindedness. It allows you to challenge preconceived ideas and appreciate alternative ways of thinking and living, which is essential in today’s interconnected world. Finally, overcoming linguistic barriers significantly boosts self-confidence. Becoming fluent in another language not only enhances your communication skills, but it also improves your future job opportunities. In conclusion, leaving home to study abroad is undeniably demanding, but the self-confidence, autonomy, and cultural awareness gained from it make it an invaluable journey of personal growth.
