5) WRITE ABOUT THE FOLLOWING TOPIC USING BETWEEN 120-150 WORDS (4 POINTS). Do you think wars are ever justified? Discuss your answer.

Solución: Sample essay (137 words): Throughout history, armed conflicts have caused immense destruction and human suffering. Consequently, many people wonder whether war can ever be truly justified. On the one hand, pacifists argue that war is never acceptable because it inevitably leads to the loss of innocent lives, displacement of civilians, and long-term economic ruin. From this viewpoint, dialogue and diplomatic negotiations should always be the only tools used to solve international disputes. On the other hand, some believe that military action can be legitimate in extreme circumstances, particularly for self-defence. When a sovereign nation is unjustly attacked or when severe human rights violations such as genocide occur, military intervention may be the only effective way to protect citizens. In conclusion, although war causes irreparable damage, it may be justifiable as an absolute last resort when innocent lives and sovereignty must be defended.
