1. Many traditions from the United States, such as Halloween or the character of Santa Claus, have been exported to other cultures. Write a for-and-against essay discussing to what extent this enriches or has a negative effect on one’s own traditions.

Solución: In recent decades, American festivities like Halloween and Santa Claus have spread across the globe. While some welcome these celebrations, others fear they threaten local heritage. On the one hand, adopting foreign holidays provides fun, entertainment, and social cohesion, particularly for young people and children. They also stimulate the local economy through commercial activity, costume sales, and special events. Furthermore, cultural exchange can foster curiosity and openness towards other societies. On the other hand, critics argue that excessive commercialisation overshadows meaningful local customs, such as the traditional celebration of All Saints' Day. When imported traditions dominate the media and retail sectors, indigenous heritage risks being neglected or completely forgotten by younger generations. In conclusion, American traditions can enrich cultural life if they complement native practices rather than replace them. A balanced approach ensures that we enjoy global customs while preserving our own cultural identity.
