Arriving home from the hairdresser’s …

Your mum: What have you done to your hair?!!

You: (1). Why?

Your mum: Why? Because it’s awful.

You: Well, thank you very much. (2)

Your mum: Look at it. It’s too long at the back and too short at the sides. It doesn’t suit you.

You: That’s not what my friends say. (3). Anyway, I never criticise the way your hair looks, do I?

Your mum: Of course not because my hair is always perfectly normal.

You: Normal? (4) ?

Your mum: Obviously, normal is normal! That’s crystal clear. Go straight back to the hairdresser now and ask them to cut off all that hair at the back.

You: I’m afraid not, Mum. (5)

Your mum: But you can’t go to school like that, and your father will go mad when he sees you.

You: Dad is much more modern than you. (6)

Your mum: And your teacher won’t let you in the classroom with that haircut!
